IZAWA SEITO
The company 'Izawa Seito' creates unglazed pots in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture. Unglazed pots have superior air permeability and moisture control. These “breathing pots” are particularly required by indoor plants separated from their natural environment. We have attempted to make an appropriately shaped pot suited to modern living environments.
BON POT
The soil that comprises the plant roots, growing moss, and tiny pebbles are as precious as plants themselves. Our shallow-bowl style “BON POT” is a novel addition to the “MARCO POT,” which is a clay pot made from a combination of unglazed material and copper. We realized a simple and bold pot design. You can appreciate the spreading of the soil similar to a landscape, and moss and the plants can grow there. The pot is also suitable for group planting. The excellent breathability and moisture control of the clay pot facilitates respiration, while the copper dish with antimicrobial action prevents bacterial growth and water corrosion. When you slightly tilt the pot on the base tray, you will be able to see a different view.
About the Clay / MIKAWA Blend
MIKAWA Blend features a gentle texture and lightness. Its hint of color—a blush of cherry blossom pink—comes from the material itself rather than additional pigments or glaze. The clay is specially blended with white clay from Seto and chamotte made of recycled roof tiles from the region of Mikawa. When baked slowly at a low temperature of 800 ℃, the porous yet strong pot could realize great drainage, making it ideal for delicate plants prone to root rot.
