子どもが描いた絵の中の椅子のように、少ない要素のみで構成されたシンプルな椅子を目指しました。明快さは素材のピュアな強さを引き出し、より自然なかたちで「木」を現代の住空間に取り込んでくれる、そう考えたからです。特にプロポーションの追求に心を砕きました。繊細でも無骨でもなく、簡素だけれど居心地よく。ポールチェアは、空間や時代の変化を問わず、すっと溶け込んでゆくフラットな雰囲気に仕上がりました。脚先の丸みは、ちょこんと佇むような表情を椅子にもたらしてくれます。

木製の学習机を長年作ってきたメーカー「杉工場」のオリジナルライン。自然としての木の存在感を捉えること、そこに小さな子どもがいても優しい存在であること、その子どもが大人になっても使える丈夫で普遍的なデザインであること、この３つを軸に据えて、私たちはポールチェアとボードテーブルを開発しました。

TIME SPACE EXISTENCE 出展
We aimed for a simple chair composed of only a few elements, like the chair in a child's drawing. We thought that clarity would draw out the pure strength of the material and bring wood into contemporary living spaces in a more natural way. In particular, we were very careful in our pursuit of proportions. It is neither delicate nor rugged, simple yet comfortable. The Pole Chair has a flat, inviting feel that blends seamlessly into any space or time period. The rounded leg tips give the chair the appearance of standing quietly.

This is an original line from Sugikojo co.,ltd., a manufacturer that has been making wooden study desks for many years. We developed our pole chairs and board tables based on three key concepts: capturing the presence of wood as nature, having a gentle presence for small children there, and a sturdy, inclusive design that can be used even when those children become adults.
